In total, more than 100 permanent employees work at the farm Ökodorf Brodowin, about 50% of them are women. More than half of our employees live in Brodowin or in neighbouring villages. In the season they are supported by up to 25 temporary workers from the region. More than 35 new jobs have been created in recent years. Young people find a training place in the dairy and agriculture.
We are increasingly active in youth environmental education and try to intensify the relationship of youth to nature. Every year about 40 pupils of a Berlin Waldorf school complete an agricultural internship with us. In cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences Eberswalde and the Faculty of Agriculture and Horticulture at Humboldt University Berlin, we offer students the opportunity to write master’s and bachelor’s theses and complete internships.
But we are not only concerned about young people, we also create jobs for older people and the disabled – in a region where there are few job opportunities in this area in particular. Our goal is to produce high-quality, ecological food for us and our customers – in harmony with nature.
A foundation we have set up makes important contributions in the areas of nature conservation, the environment and social affairs in parallel to its operation. more…
