The measures selected are based on results of the 5-year-old project “Naturschutzhof Brodowin” (Project Sponsor: Ökodorf Brodowin eV, supported by the German Federal Agency for Nature Conservation). The effects of these conservation methods have been studied on specific animal and plant groups. From the results of these studies proposals were developed to improve living conditions for animal and plant species in an agricultural landscape.
The economic evaluation of the project has shown that individual measures are connected with significant costs, or income waivers. In principle, organic farming protects and maintains habitats because it avoids dangerous farming practices and unnatural influences (pesticides, synthetic fertilizers). Brodowin Eco village has decided to do even more – we help nature!
