The Monastery Café

in the Cistercian monastery Chorin

You will find our “Monastery” café in Chorin’s ancient and impressive monastery. Our cakes and tarts are freshly baked every day. Naturally, we only use organic ingredients. Where possible we also use Brodowin’s produce for light meals, snacks and soups on offer.
This includes vegetables, fruit, Demeter milk and our excellent cheeses such as the “Brodowiner Bauernkäse” (farm cheese) or the popular “Roter Brodowiner”. We combine fresh bread from the Demeter bakery “Märkisches Landbrot” (baked with our own grain), with delicious Brodowin butter and a piece of walnut cheese. On the other hand, perhaps a freshly prepared soup? These are just some of the tasty delicacies to be found in the countryside.

Please note: The Monastery Café is located on the grounds of the monastery which requires an entrance fee of 6.00 €.

Blick auf das Kloster Chorin

The former Cistercian monastery was built from 1273 onwards. It is considered to be a unique example of North-German, masonry Gothic architecture. You can find out more about the monastery’s early Gothic style and its animated history on guided tours and exhibitions. The monastery once also provided a home to Ascanian monks as well as the Margraves of Brandenburg. The monastery’s special atmosphere is enriched by a variety of cultural events. The grounds have also been used for weddings for which a registry office and a beautiful chapel are available.
